Description

BACS provides business-to-business mould cleaning services to computer rooms, server rooms, comms room and data centre nationwide including Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart and Darwin as well as most regional areas.

Mould (mildew) is a fungus which reproduces via tiny spores that float through the air and deposit on surfaces. When temperature and moisture levels are right, spores grow into mould colonies. Mould is part of nature and occurs almost everywhere; however, exposure to mould indoors can adversely affect human health. We do not provide mould cleaning services to residential properties.

Method

Mould growth is typically less of a problem in data centres where CRAC units control relative humidity to 45% - 55%. Mould can easily occur in a comms room when an air conditioning unit is either leaking or causing condensation to form on walls and other solid structures. All moisture-tolerant ceiling, wall, floor, and sub-floor surfaces must be treated with a mould-killing chemical suitable for use around electronic equipment.

Frequency

Because mould is a WHS issue, initial remediation and replacement of heavily-affected materials should be done as soon as mould growth is detected to reduce its spread and clean-up costs. Follow-up treatments may be required to fully arrest its growth. Repainting of cleaned surfaces could be needed to cover any discolouration remaining on walls after treatment.
