Swabbing is a preferred method to determine the effectiveness of cleaning protocols as determined by the US Food and Drug Administration. Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analysis is one method used to validate these cleaning processes. The Low TOC Alpha® Sampling Swabs have been cleaned to a level of <50µg/L. This minute level of TOC makes these swabs the ideal tool for use in cleaning validation of equipment used in the manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients and drugs. The double layered, double-knit polyester head provides excellent recovery rates by entrapping samples in the knit structure without adhering to the sample, allowing complete release into the diluent. TX714K, the same swab in the TX3340 and TX3342 TOC Cleaning Validation Kits, has a large head on a rigid, break-away handle. This model provides firm support for sampling broad areas and flat surfaces. The break-away handle allows the swab head to be placed into a sampling vial with minimal handling.
